Dr. David Mandarini

Dr. Dave graduated from the University of Torine, Italy in 1989. We celebrated Dr. Dave and his 30 years of service here in 2023. His interests include general veterinary care of cats and dogs. Dr. Dave enjoys time with his friends and family outside of work.


Dr. Amanda Holmes

Dr. Holmes, a New England native received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT and obtained her doctorate of veterinary medicine from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. She relocated to Newport, RI in 2011.

Dr. Holmes finds general practice rewarding and enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients and their pet parents. She practices low stress handling and wants each visit to be a positive experience for patients that builds on the human animal bond. Her goal is to partner with pet parents to provide the best possible care for patients during all life stages. She is a member of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association. Her current veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, dermatology, pain management and ways that nutrition and holistic options can complement traditional treatments for chronic disease management.

In her free time Mandy enjoys hiking with her dogs, traveling, cooking, yoga, reading and watching movies. She shares her home with her husband Joe (architect), rescue dog Charlie (who is blind and deaf) and foster failure Luna (demolitions expert).


Dr. Nancy Field, VMD

Dr. Nancy Field grew up in New Jersey and currently resides in Saunderstown. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. Following graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Field completed an intensive one-year internship at a specialty hospital located outside of Philadelphia. After her internship, she spent the next 5 years practicing outside of Boston until moving to Rhode Island.

Dr. Field is excited to join the North Kingstown Animal Hospital team and provide medical and surgical services to all of the clients. In her free time, she likes to plan adventures exploring her new state with her husband, children (Eloise and William), 2 dogs (a vizsla and a shorkie), and 2 cats.


Dr. Oni Springer

Dr. Oni Springer-Slepkow attended veterinary school at University of Georgia and subsequently completed a thirteen month Internship at Ocean State. She thoroughly enjoys her job and also happens to love people! Her veterinary interests include Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Ultrasound, Dentistry, and Surgery. During her leisure time, Oni likes to hang out with her son, husband, and her animals ("Hambone", a Bullmastiff and "Tony Rigatoni", a tabby cat). She is involved in multiple philanthropies, Special Needs groups, and a brain treatment center called Brain Waves. During her spare time she enjoys painting, rehabbing furniture, and chasing her toddler around. She looks forward to meeting both you and your pet!


Dr. David Clark, DVM, DACVS

Dr. Clark is a board-certified traveling surgeon who provides orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. By working with Dr. Clark, our hospital is able to offer our clients a board-certified surgeon without the need of making a trip to a referral hospital. Dr. Clark completed his undergraduate studies in 1977 and his DVM degree in 1981, both from Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. He completed his internship through Angel Memorial Hospital 1981–1982, then returned to Cornell University in 1982 then completed his residency 1985. Dr. Clark served as an Associate Professor and Chief of Small Animal Surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University from 1987–1993. He became a board-certified surgeon in 1987 as a Diplomat of the ACVS. In 1993.
Dr. Clark has been serving our hospital for over 23 years.


Susan M. Newell, DVM, MS, DACVR-Board Certified—Radiology

We are very pleased to have a relationship with Ocean State Veterinary Specialist and Dr. Newell. She will work with us, according to her availability, for abdominal ultrasound and xray interpretation.


Dr. Maxon G Balmforth

Dr. Balmforth opened North Kingstown Animal Hospital in 1976. He worked many years providing emergency and routine care to many pets. Dr. Balmforth has been volunteering at the NK rabies clinic for over 40 years.

He is now enjoying retirement. He can be found spending time on his farm with his animals and in his gardens that produce over 300 pumpkins every year. Dr. Balmforth also enjoys being on the water fishing and traveling around to see his grandchildren.

Lorie Caruana

Practice Manager. Member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA)

Animals have always been a part of my life! I grew up working at the hospital and on a farm with many animals, I enjoyed being a 4-H member for many years.

As owner and manager of NKAH for over 14 years now I enjoy creating a team environment where everyone can be at their best to provide quality medicine and compassion to our clients and pets.

In my free time I love mt. biking with my dog Brody, paddle boarding with my dog Sage, spending time with my husband and our three adult kids when we all get together!

Kristy Mureddu

Bookkeeper

My name is Kristy Mureddu. I am a URI graduate and have been book keeping for the North Kingstown Animal Hospital for over 12 years now. I have been married to my husband Pete for 24 years, have two boys Matthew and David in/entering college, and a Goldendoodle named Finn. We reside in North Kingstown. My hobbies include morning walks with Finn, gardening, boating and entertaining.

Brynn Bradley

Veterinary Technician

Head surgery and treatment tech with 20+ years of experience here!
I'm known as the cat lady. I love kitties and pitties, even the fresh ones! I graduated many years ago with a BS in animal science and have been working at NKAH ever since. When I'm not working I'm taking care of my 4 cats, beardie, fancy chickens and 2 children. I have a love for all animals and spend much of my time in the summer with cows, pigs, chickens, and my 4H family.

Kristin Rosa C.V.T.

Certified Veterinary Technician

Kristin is a long time veteran here at our office. She’s been happily working here since she graduated from the veterinary animal science program at URI over 25 years ago!!! Kristin enjoys every and all animals but has a secret love for all her Labrador friends. When she’s not spending time with her beloved family she’s hanging with her best friend “Ruger” . Her past times include hiking with her dog, relaxing at the beach, and gardening!! Kristin resides in Richmond, RI with her husband Rich, daughter Olivia and son Richard Jr.

have been at NKAH since 2019. I started out as a kennel technician and have worked my way into assisting our doctors in appointments. I grew up here in RI and studied animal science at URI. I value everything I have learned here and love the work family we have. I have an Italian Greyhound named Rudy, a Bedlington Terrier named Maggie, and a one-eyed cat named Murphy!

Hannah Nelson

Veterinary Technician

Hannah has been a tech at NKAH for over 7 years! She is one of our senior technicians, and she takes care of all our prescription diet ordering. Hannah has a background in shelter medicine and is a friend of the spicy kitties. She enjoys continuing education and client engagement. Outside of work, you can find her at home with her husband, her 3 beautiful kids, her dog Marvin, her cat Mr. Joe, and an ever changing assortment of chickens.

With 11 years of conquering the wild kingdom of animal care, Kerri is the maestro of managing meows and orchestrating woofs. She's not just a veteran in the field; she's the trusted confidante of countless tails, including the legendary Sarge, who transformed from patient to family member.

When not navigating the intricate world of pet wellness, Kerri enjoys sharing her home with the fabulous feline, Cheddar. Together, they form the dynamic duo of doggy hugs and kitty cuddles, proving that love knows no species. With Kerri at the helm, your pets are in the pawsitively capable hands of a seasoned animal aficionado – because every tail tells a tale, and Kerri knows them all!

Receptionist

Julie has a Bachelor's in Animal Science from the University of Vermont and over 5 years of experience as a veterinary receptionist. She has had a love of animals since she was very young and has had the chance to work with cougars, seals, and bears in her work as a zoo keeper during her college years.

Julie enjoys knitting and spinning yarn among other creative hobbies. She's an avid reader and musician and plays clarinet, piano, and ukulele. Along with her husband and son, she enjoys cycling as a family. Her pets include a dog (or possibly a Muppet) named Busey and two cats, Captain Bean Dip and Sir Edmund Cheese.

Kali has been working with animals in multiple aspects for over 20 years, she has been a team member here since 2021. Kali has assisted in surgery, provides treatments and pet care as well as client education. She has a dog Texas and 2 cats Ricky and Julienne. Kali loves to cook and also spends time outside with all of her animals and young son Hawk !
